Laura Durkin has been an avocational choral singer for several decades, singing with choral groups and church choirs around the metropolitan area. She has sung everything from early chant to 21st century settings, reveling in the sounds of voices in harmony. She did vocal training at Eastman School of Music, Queens College and privately. Laura was president of Hudson Chorale in Westchester during the pandemic, and facilitated the use of innovative open source applications to allow members to rehearse together and record unique vocal tracks. Hudson Chorale produced two virtual performances during this time, maintaining community (and our sanity!) until the chorale could return to in-person rehearsal and performance in 2022.
